The Touring Principel Emulator

The Touring Principle is the name of the first nationwide tour by British solo artist Gary Numan which took place in September and October 1979. Numan was at the height of his popularity at the time having burst onto the scene in the summer of 79 as Tubeway Army with the no.1 single Are 'Friends' Electric and parent album Replicas, swiftly followed by new material as a solo artist with the no.1 single Cars and album The Pleasure Principle.

The Hammersmith Odeon performance on 28 September was documented both in official audio and video formats. The album Living Ornaments 79 was first released in April 1981, with a more complete CD re-issue in 1998. A VHS 'home video' The Touring Principle 79 was released in the UK in 1979, and on DVD in 2009.
